Symptoms

This error message appears when trying to open the database for which no password was set. Anything typed will not open the database. This message can appear if you open a database in a non-Access application, like MS Word, notepad or Excel, and then save the database in that application.

Resolution

We recommend that you do not attempt to open a Microsoft Access database (mdb file) in a non-Access application. If however, you want to view your Access data in another application, try linking to it through ODBC or Office Links. This prompt is just as likely to indicate corruption and we recommend you seek professional assistance.
